We took a few days off to travel to one of the most beautiful places in all of China (or so we hear).
We took so many pictures, we are splitting this trip into the three different areas we traveled.
The first stop was about a six hour drive outside of Chengdu. Thankfully, a friend was traveling there already and we went with him. If coming this way and looking for a great group to tour this part of Sichuan - please check out Adventure Access. They really did a fantastic job setting up an amazing family trip.
That area is home to Tibetans, Muslims and Han Chinese. We visited an area called Muni valley which is one of the places in the area with spectacular waterfalls.

Having blonde hair means you get many pictures taken with strangers round these parts.
And the poses the folks do...too amazing to not share!

T
The educational part - tree sap, it looked like it was bleeding.
Apparently, the the grass is fearful of bleeding like that tree....
After this we took a short car ride over to another part of Muni Valley. The water here was amazing and the lack of people - equally amazing!
These trees are under the water, the water is just that clear!

Meisi was so excited to see pine cones again, something we don't see in the city. She and Ian found many lovely ones that we brought home with us.
That eve, we stayed in the town of Songpan and it was lit up with these lovely lights.

Then we saw some interesting smoked meat, I guess you would call that meat. It is from yaks, male yaks to be precise and, yes, it is what you think it is. π

This looks like it is on top of the water...
But it is in fact under the water! Hard to believe this is real!
You won't hear me say this often, but these bathrooms were so so clean! Wow, beautiful and clean bathrooms, now that is a rare find here. π

OOOOH...now the next day of our adventure, took my breath away, literally!
